For years, I approached mornings as a necessary evil — a hurdle to get through before the day truly began. But everything changed when I decided to reclaim my mornings and what started as a simple experiment evolved into a non-negotiable part of my life. Here, I want to share my morning routine and how it has brought balance and softness to my journey as an artist and ballerina.

First of all, we are not night creatures. In fact, we need sunlight to produce cortisol in the morning to regulate our circadian cycle, even if you think otherwise, but that's your choice. And that's why, having a morning routine IN THE MORNING is so beneficial.

The Foundation: Sunlight, Affirmations and Mindfulness

The first moments after waking are sacred to me. I start my day opening the windows to let the sunshine in, then I do affirmations. These affirmations ground me in gratitude and set the tone for a day filled with intention.

Following affirmations, I dedicate time to meditation. Whether it’s five minutes (usually that's all I can do) or twenty, I sit in stillness, focusing on my breath and allowing my thoughts to settle. This practice has been crucial, specially now, in helping me find peace in the middle of the chaos of recovery and professional commitments.

Breathwork: How to be Present

After meditating, I engage in breathwork exercises. My favorite techniques are box breathing (inhaling for four counts, holding for four, exhaling for four, and holding again) and fire breath. This practice not only calms my nervous system but also energizes me for the day ahead. It’s incredible how something as simple as intentional breathing can create such a profound sense of focus and vitality. Have you tried it?

Movement: Awakening the Body

Movement is non-negotiable in my morning routine, especially as a recovering ballerina. I dedicate time to gentle mobility exercises, focusing on areas that need care and attention —my hips, knees, and ankles. These exercises not only prepare my body for the day but also serve as a form of physical therapy, supporting my journey back to dance.

After, I do some abs exercises for 5 minutes from my Dream Abs Program (use the cupom POISEDPATHS for 50% off).

Journaling: Clarity Through Words

Before diving into the day’s tasks, I turn to my journal. Journaling allows me to reflect, process emotions, and map out my intentions. Some days, I write freely, letting my thoughts flow onto the page. On others, I follow prompts that guide me to explore specific areas of growth if I feel like it. This practice has been so important during my recovery, helping me track progress and cultivate self-awareness.

Fueling My Body: A Nourishing Breakfast

No morning is complete without a hearty, plant-based breakfast. My go-to is a smoothie using gluten-free oats, almond butter, coconut milk, chia seeds, fresh berries, banana and cinnamon. I try to keep it simple in the morning.

How This Routine Changed My Life

Committing to a morning routine that worked for me changed my whole life. It’s not just about checking off tasks; it’s about starting each day with purpose and care. So, when I feel lost, I know that I still have this and keeps me on track. Watch more here and here.

If you've ever felt overwhelmed or disconnected, I encourage you to create your own morning ritual. It doesn’t have to be complex or time-consuming because I know how privileged I am to have this amount of time in the morning. Start small, choose practices that resonate with you, and remain consistent. Remember, your mornings set the tone for the rest of your day. Treat them with the care they deserve, and watch how they transform your life.
